“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” […]

Youth Update | February 22, 2010

New Feature on the Youth Page
The church’s youth page now features a calendar for “in the works” youth events. Some listed events are still in the planning stages, so all information is subject to change. Nonetheless, this can be a useful tool for those of you who like to plan ahead! Check it out here.

Middle School – Youth Group Resumes this Wednesday – 6:30-8:00 PM
We didn’t meet last week because it was Ash Wednesday, but we’re back in action this week!

High School – No Bible Study This Wednesday
Although we won’t be meeting this week, there is a special opportunity for juniors and seniors to attend a night of musical worship on Thursday. If you are interested, please contact me and I’ll fill you in!

Middle School – 30 Hour Famine / Lock-In This Friday-Saturday – 6PM-8AM – FREE
This isn’t your average lock-in! Instead of goofing around all night, students will have a unique opportunity to learn about how they can help fight world poverty. We will also be engaging in some service projects including serving at SOS in the evening on Friday. And for those of you who like games, don’t worry – we’ll still find time to have fun! All you need to bring is a sleeping bag and a pillow, and clothes you don’t mind working in. Because we are going offsite for a portion of this event, a medical release form is required for all participants. You can download a printable pdf of our medical release and permission from the youth section of our website: http://www.covenantomaha.org

Special note to parents regarding the 30 Hour Famine
Students are encouraged – but certainly not required – to fast on Friday. It is completely your call on whether your child is in good physical condition for fasting. Please know that we will not be serving any food of substance until breakfast on Saturday morning, so if your child does not fast, they will need to eat dinner before arriving on Friday. We will make sure that those who do fast have plenty to drink and get plenty of rest!

High School Guys / All Girls – MAN NIGHT and Chick Night – This Saturday
MAN NIGHT and Chick Night are this Saturday. Dudenight is called “Man Night” this month because it’s for high school students only – our all ages event will make it’s return next month. Also, due to the imminent threat of female infiltration, the guys are meeting in a secret location – you’ll have to contact Mike for details. The girls are meeting at Lori E’s home – contact Brooke, Tessa, or Stephanie for details.

All Youth – Free Pizza Night – March 7th – Time TBA
The staff of Covenant Cedars will be visiting CCC for a “Free Pizza Night.” It will be an evening of worship, teaching, and fellowship, as well as an opportunity for kids to learn about camp. Make sure you invite your friends – maybe they’ll come to camp with you this summer!

High School – Feed My Starving Children Service Trip – March 19-21 – High School
This March, we’re going to Minneapolis with a few other Covenant churches to pack boxes of food for FMSC. We will be travelling during the day on March 19th, so students will need to be called out of school. The cost should be minimal as we will be staying at a local church. Look for complete details soon, but in the meantime, mark your calendars and make proper arrangements!
