In this third Message from our Downfall series, we continue walking through 1 Kings by tracing how Solomon’s story moves from glory to collapse—and what that reveals about our own hearts. Building on the earlier weeks, we see how Solomon was given unparalleled wisdom, power, wealth, and opportunity, yet slowly drifted into predictable downfall by ignoring God’s clear commands in Deuteronomy 17, accumulating horses, riches, and many wives who led his heart toward other gods. The sermon emphasizes that Solomon’s crash didn’t happen overnight; it grew from a refusal to deal with sin head-on, a pattern of deliberate disobedience, and misplaced worship flowing from a divided heart. From there, we’re invited to examine our own hidden compromises, recognize that awareness of sin must lead to repentance, and turn afresh to Jesus—the true and greater King—who takes our sin upon Himself and calls us into a life of full surrender, obedience, and missional influence for the sake of others.
