WEEK 5 // DAY 5

WHAT GOD TRULY DESIRES

Read Hosea 6:4, 6

This verse captures the heart of God’s message through Hosea. The issue was not that sacrifices existed—God Himself established them. The problem was that the rituals had become disconnected from relationship.

The people continued their religious practices, but their hearts were distant. Worship had become routine rather than relational. Activity had replaced devotion.

God makes His desire clear: He wants mercy and the knowledge of Him. In other words, He wants hearts that are genuinely aligned with His character.

Jesus later quoted this verse when confronting religious leaders who prioritized external rules over compassion. He reminded them that God’s heart is revealed not only in what we say in worship but in how we live every day.

Through Jesus, the deepest desire of God is fulfilled. Christ becomes the perfect sacrifice, making it possible for us to approach God not through ritual but through relationship. His death and resurrection open the way for us to know God personally.

This changes the way we approach faith. Worship becomes a response to grace rather than an attempt to earn it. Obedience becomes an expression of love rather than obligation.

When your life is rooted in Jesus, religious practices are no longer empty routines. They become meaningful expressions of a living relationship.

God’s desire is simple yet profound: that you would know Him and reflect His mercy in the world around you.
