Love Unending – Week 4 Day 1

WEEK 4 // DAY 1
LOVE THAT PURSUES
Read Hosea 3:1-5
The command God gives Hosea is both simple and staggering: “Go again.” Hosea had already pursued Gomer once. He had already welcomed her into marriage and covenant relationship. Yet she had turned away again, choosing a life of unfaithfulness.
Instead of telling Hosea to abandon her, God instructs him to pursue her again. This command reveals something profound about the heart of God. Israel had repeatedly turned to idols and trusted in other nations instead of trusting the Lord. Yet God did not stop pursuing them. His love did not disappear when their faithfulness faltered. Instead, His redeeming love pursues. When Adam and Eve hid in the garden after sinning, God came looking for them. When Israel was enslaved in Egypt, God pursued them with rescue and deliverance. When God’s people wandered from Him, He sent prophets to call them home. Ultimately, God sent Jesus into the world to seek and save those who were lost.
You may have moments when you feel far from God. Maybe you recognize ways you have drifted, ignored His voice, or pursued things that cannot satisfy. God reminds us that His love is not easily exhausted. His grace is not limited to those who never fail. In Jesus, God has come looking for you. Christ stepped into our broken world not because we were faithful but because we were lost. His life, death, and resurrection reveal a love that refuses to abandon those He came to redeem.
Today you can rest in this truth: the same God who sent Hosea to pursue Gomer has pursued you through Jesus. His love moves toward you, inviting you to return, trust, and walk with Him again.
Reflection Questions:
- What command does God give Hosea in this passage?
- What does Hosea’s pursuit of Gomer reveal about the heart of God?
- When have you experienced God pursuing you in a difficult or wandering season?
- How can you respond today to God’s pursuing love?
Journaling Prompt:
Take time to reflect on moments when you sensed God pursuing you even when you felt distant from Him. Write about how His persistent love invites you to trust Him more deeply today.
Thank Jesus for pursuing you with steadfast love, and ask Him to help you respond to His invitation to walk closely with Him today.
