WEEK 2 // DAY 5

THE GRACE OF RETURN

Read Hosea 2:2-13

The turning point is simple: clarity. “It was better with Him.”

Lent is a season that embraces remembering.

Remembering the steadiness of God’s presence. Remembering the peace of dependence. Remembering the simplicity of trust.

Return does not begin with perfection. It begins with recognition. The illusion promised more—but delivered less. The emptiness becomes invitation.

God does not shame Israel into return. He allows them to see clearly.

Sometimes repentance is simply admitting: “I trusted what could not sustain me.” “I chased what could not satisfy.” “I wandered.”

And then choosing to turn. Return is not dramatic, but it is deliberate. It is humble.

This is preparation for Easter. The resurrection is not for the self-sufficient. It is for the returning.

Today, consider what “better with Him” means for you. Not nostalgic religion. Not routine faith. But renewed dependence. The journey home begins with a step.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where do I sense God inviting me to return?
  • What illusion have I been clinging to?
  • What would wholehearted trust look like?
  • What is one step I can take today?

Journaling Prompt:

Write a prayer of return. Name specifically what you are turning from and what you are turning toward.

Prayer Starter:
“God, thank you for the clarity to see that I have chased what cannot satisfy. Draw me back, renew my trust, and may you lead me home to rest in you.”
