WEEK 5 // DAY 3

DELIGHTING IN GOD

Read Psalm 1:1-3, John 15:1-11

Psalm 1 paints a picture of stability and fruitfulness rooted in delight. The tree does not strain to survive; it is planted near a steady source of water. Its fruit comes in season—not constantly, not prematurely, but faithfully over time.

This psalm echoes Jesus’ invitation to abide. Fruitfulness flows from proximity to God, not from effort alone. Delight shapes direction. What you delight in will determine where you plant yourself.

Jesus fulfills this picture perfectly. He embodies the life that is fully rooted in God. When He invites you to abide, He invites you into that same steady, nourished life. Abiding is not duty—it is delight in God’s presence.

In daily life, this challenges where you seek nourishment. Many things promise fulfillment but leave you dry. Jesus invites you to plant your life where living water flows. Delight grows as you return to Him again and again.

Fruit does not appear overnight. Seasons matter. Jesus invites patience. Faithfulness over flash. Trust over hurry. A planted life produces fruit because it stays connected to its source.

Reflection Questions:

  • How does Psalm 1 describe a fruitful life?
  • What role does delight play in formation?
  • Where do you seek nourishment when you feel dry?
  • How might abiding reshape your expectations for growth?

Journaling Prompt:

Reflect on what currently nourishes your soul. Write about where Jesus may be inviting you to replant yourself.

Prayer Starter:
God, plant my life near Your presence. Help me delight in You and trust Your timing.
