Invited By Jesus – Week 5 Day 2

WEEK 5 // DAY 2
ROOTED FOR GROWTH
Read Colossians 2:6-7, John 15:1-11
Paul reminds believers that the way faith begins is also the way it grows. You received Jesus through grace, trust, and surrender—not through self-improvement. That same posture sustains spiritual growth. Remaining rooted matters more than accelerating progress.
Roots grow underground, unseen. They take time. They deepen quietly. Paul uses this image to reframe growth—not as rapid achievement, but as steady formation. A rooted life is not flashy, but it is resilient. When storms come, what is rooted remains.
Jesus invites you into this kind of growth. Remaining or abiding means allowing your faith to sink deep into Christ’s love and truth. It is less about immediate results and more about long-term health. Spiritual fruit grows best in hidden faithfulness.
In daily life, rooting yourself in Jesus may feel unremarkable. It looks like consistency rather than intensity. Prayer when you don’t feel inspired. Scripture when you don’t feel clarity. Trust when you don’t see outcomes yet. These are the practices that deepen roots.
This passage also reminds us that gratitude strengthens abiding. Paul connects being rooted with being thankful. Gratitude keeps your heart oriented toward grace rather than entitlement. It helps you notice how God is already at work.
Jesus invites you not to rush your growth, but to trust the slow, faithful work He is doing beneath the surface.
Reflection Questions:
- How does Paul describe spiritual growth in this passage?
- Why is being rooted more important than appearing productive?
- Where might God be growing something unseen in you?
- How could gratitude help deepen your dependence on Jesus?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about areas where growth feels slow. Reflect on how God might be strengthening your roots in this season.
Jesus, help me stay rooted in You. Grow what You desire in Your time and Your way.
