WEEK 3 // DAY 5

ENTERING GOD’S REST

Read Hebrews 4:9-11

This passage reminds you that rest is not merely a habit—it is a gift rooted in God’s finished work. Sabbath rest is not earned through discipline or self-control. It flows from trusting that God has already accomplished what matters most.

The writer of Hebrews points back to creation and redemption, reminding God’s people that rest has always been part of His design. Rest declares that God is sovereign and faithful. When you rest, you acknowledge that the world does not depend on your constant effort.

Jesus makes this rest possible. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He completes the work of salvation. Because of Him, you no longer have to prove your worth or secure your future. Rest becomes an act of faith—trusting that Jesus’ work is sufficient.

In daily life, striving often masquerades as responsibility. We feel guilty when we stop, anxious when we slow down. But Scripture reframes rest as obedience. Choosing rest is a way of saying, God, I trust You to work even when I stop.

Entering God’s rest shapes how you live the rest of your life. It changes how you work, how you relate, and how you measure success. Rest becomes a rhythm that re-centers your heart in grace.

Jesus invites you not only to occasional rest, but to a rested way of living. This rest flows from trusting His finished work rather than relying on your own efforts.

Reflection Questions:

  • What kind of rest does this passage describe?
  • How is rest connected to trusting God’s work rather than your own?
  • Where do you feel pressure to keep striving?
  • How might practicing rest deepen your trust in Jesus?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about areas where you struggle to stop or slow down. Invite Jesus to help you rest in His completed work.

Prayer Starter:
Jesus, thank You for finishing the work I could not. Teach me to live from rest, not striving.
