WEEK 2 // DAY 2

JESUS WELCOMES QUESTIONS

Read John 1:35-50

Nathanael’s response is honest and unfiltered. Skeptical. Dismissive. Even a little sarcastic. “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Yet neither Philip nor Jesus shames him for his doubt. Instead, the invitation remains the same: “Come and see.”

This passage reminds you that questions are not the enemy of faith. They are often the starting point. Nathanael’s skepticism does not disqualify him from encountering Jesus. In fact, Jesus later affirms Nathanael’s honesty. Faith does not require pretending certainty—it grows through truthful engagement.

Notice how Philip responds. He does not argue. He does not defend Nazareth or attempt to convince Nathanael with logic alone. He simply invites him into proximity with Jesus. Faith is not primarily transferred through debate, but through encounter.

You may feel pressure to resolve all your doubts before coming to Jesus. But Scripture shows a different pattern. Jesus welcomes seekers who come with mixed motives, incomplete understanding, and real questions. He invites them to experience Him personally.

In daily life, this frees you from spiritual performance. You don’t have to silence your doubts to belong. You don’t need polished answers to take a step toward Jesus. Honest curiosity is enough. Jesus is not fragile—He can handle your questions.

To “come and see” means trusting that truth is discovered in relationship. Jesus invites you to bring your skepticism, your questions, and even your cynicism into His presence. He is not afraid of what you might find—because He knows who He is.

Reflection Questions:

  • What doubts does Nathanael express in this passage?
  • How does Philip respond, and what does that teach about sharing faith?
  • What questions or hesitations do you carry about Jesus?
  • How might Jesus be inviting you to explore rather than resolve everything?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about a question or doubt you’ve carried for a long time. Bring it honestly into Jesus’ presence without trying to fix it.

Prayer Starter:
Jesus, thank You for welcoming my questions. Help me trust You enough to bring my doubts into the light.
