Invited By Jesus – Week 1 Day 5

WEEK 1 // DAY 5
AT ONCE THEY FOLLOWED
Read Matthew 4:18-22
The phrase “at once” (verse 20) is easy to overlook, but it reveals something powerful about discipleship. When Jesus calls, the appropriate response is trustful obedience—not delayed perfection. The disciples don’t know where the road leads, but they know who is calling.
Immediate obedience doesn’t mean reckless faith; it means responsive faith. They recognize authority, goodness, and promise in Jesus’ voice. Following begins not when every question is answered, but when trust outweighs hesitation.
This final day of the week invites you to consider your response. Jesus’ invitation is not theoretical. It calls for movement. There is always a “next step” in following Jesus—something concrete, however small, that turns belief into action.
Discipleship is not about dramatic moments alone. It’s about daily decisions to walk with Jesus. Today, you are invited to respond—not perfectly, but faithfully—to the One who calls you by name.
Reflection Questions:
- What stands out about the disciples’ response to Jesus?
- Why is immediacy important in discipleship?
- Where might you be delaying a response to Jesus’ invitation?
- What is one next step you could take today?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about the next step Jesus may be inviting you to take. Name it honestly and commit it to Him.
Jesus, help me respond to You with trust and obedience. Lead me as I take my next step with You.
