Faith In Action – Week 6 Day 4

WEEK 6 // DAY 4
RESTORING THE WANDERER
Read James 5:13-20
Faith in action doesn’t end with prayer — it extends into restoration. James ends his letter not with a command but with a call: go after the wanderer. It’s as if he’s saying, “Don’t let anyone drift away unnoticed.” True faith takes responsibility for the spiritual wellbeing of others.
To “bring someone back” doesn’t mean to shame or lecture them. It means to love them enough to pursue them, to remind them of grace, to walk beside them until they rediscover truth. The goal isn’t moral correction; it’s spiritual restoration. You are partnering with the Good Shepherd, who leaves the ninety-nine to rescue the one.
Jesus models this perfectly. He restores Peter after his denial not with condemnation but with compassion — “Do you love Me?” Each time Peter answers yes, Jesus entrusts him again with His mission. When you help someone return to Jesus, you’re participating in that same redemptive work. You’re saying through your actions, “His grace is still enough.”
This closing note reminds us that faith in action is never just personal. It’s communal. It looks like prayer that intercedes, confession that heals, and love that pursues. God’s grace flows through people who are willing to be part of His restoring work.
Reflection Questions:
- What does it mean to “wander from the truth”?
- How can you be part of God’s work in restoring others?
- Why is grace essential when helping someone return to faith?
- Who in your life might need encouragement or prayer to return to Jesus?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about someone who once influenced your faith or whom you long to see restored to Christ. Pray as you write, asking God to guide your heart toward love and action.
Ask Jesus to give you His heart for the wanderer — full of grace, patience, and hope.
