WEEK 3 // DAY 4

DEVOTED TO PRAYER

Read Acts 2:42-47

The early church was a praying church. Prayer wasn’t an add-on to their spiritual life—it was the heartbeat of their fellowship. They prayed when they gathered, when they faced persecution, and when they celebrated God’s goodness. They prayed because they knew they were dependent on the Spirit for everything.

To be devoted to prayer means to live in continual awareness of God’s presence and power. It’s not just about saying the right words, but about abiding in relationship. Prayer aligns our hearts with God’s heart and keeps us grounded in His purposes. It reminds us that we can’t build the church in our own strength—we need Him.

Our devotion to prayer also unites us. When we pray together, we move from independence to interdependence. We learn to carry each other’s burdens, to rejoice in God’s answers, and to wait in faith together. Prayer creates spiritual intimacy and holy expectancy.

In Acts 2, prayer was the means by which the Spirit moved. And it still is today. When we – as the Church pray faithfully – we are a part of heaven touching earth. God transforms hearts, renews communities, and draws the lost to Himself.

  • What role does prayer play in your daily life?
