Together In Christ – Week 3 Day 2
WEEK 3 // DAY 2
DEVOTED TO FELLOWSHIP
Read Acts 2:42-47
“They devoted themselves… to the fellowship.” The early believers didn’t just attend gatherings—they belonged to one another. Their devotion wasn’t limited to studying Scripture or worshiping in the temple courts; it extended to shared life. The word fellowship (Greek koinonia) means participation, sharing, and partnership. It describes a deep bond of spiritual family.
In a culture obsessed with independence and personal achievement, this kind of devotion is radical. The early church saw themselves as one body in Christ, not merely individuals with similar beliefs. Their faith was personal, but never private. They shared meals, prayed together, met needs, and opened their homes. They understood that following Jesus meant walking with others who shared the same Spirit.
True fellowship is costly. It requires time, vulnerability, forgiveness, and patience. But it’s also life-giving. God uses relationships within the church to shape us into the likeness of Christ. Through encouragement, correction, and shared burdens, we grow stronger. We were never meant to follow Jesus in isolation; discipleship is a team sport.
Being devoted to fellowship means showing up even when it’s inconvenient, choosing grace when others disappoint, and celebrating when others thrive. It means seeing church not as an event but as a family—messy, imperfect, yet deeply loved by God.
Imagine what our communities would look like if we lived this way. Loneliness would fade. Needs would be met. Grace would abound. This is what the Spirit produced in Acts 2 (and still desires to produce today): a community so vibrant and united that the watching world couldn’t look away. Devotion to fellowship turns ordinary people into a living picture of God’s love.
Reflection Questions:
- What does genuine fellowship look like in your life right now?
- Why do you think God designed us to grow in community?
- What relationships in your church need renewed intentionality?
- How could you help build a culture of true fellowship in your church?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about a time when community strengthened your faith. Reflect on how God met you through the care or encouragement of others.
Thank God for the gift of fellowship. Ask Him to deepen your love for His people and to help you invest faithfully in relationships that honor Him..
