Together In Christ – Week 2 Day 1
WEEK 2 // DAY 1
RESTORING WITH GENTLENESS
Read Galatians 6:1-10
When Paul writes to the Galatians about restoring someone caught in sin, he paints a picture of community that refuses to abandon people in their brokenness. Instead of condemnation, Paul calls us to gentleness. Instead of embracing today’s “cancel culture”, we have been redeemed by God himself – and we are called to be a part of the restoration of others. Restoration is not about pointing out failure with a critical spirit but about walking alongside a brother or sister in humility, remembering that we too are vulnerable.
Gentleness is not weakness. It is strength under control, guided by love and grounded in the Spirit. Jesus Himself modeled this in His interactions with the broken and the weary. He confronted sin truthfully, but He did so with compassion. When we practice gentleness, we reflect His heart. It communicates: “You are not alone. We will walk together back toward wholeness.”
This kind of restoration requires humility. Paul warns that those who restore others must “watch yourselves,” because pride can quickly creep in. You are not immune to temptation. Recognizing your own need for grace prevents you from approaching others with arrogance. Instead, you enter their struggle with empathy, aware that you, too, depend entirely on God’s mercy.
In a culture that prizes independence and hides weakness, the church has the opportunity to be radically different. Together in Christ, we are called to honesty and vulnerability. Restoration is not a solo effort; it happens in the context of shared faith, where brothers and sisters speak truth with love, hold one another accountable, and extend grace that leads to healing.
Who in your life may be caught in a struggle today? Perhaps it is a friend, a family member, or even you. Ask Jesus to give you both the courage and gentleness to walk alongside them. Restoration is not about fixing someone but about pointing them back to the Savior who redeems and restores us all.
