WEEK 4 // DAY 5

THE SPIRIT MAKES JESUS PRESENT

Read John 14:15-27

“In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” (John 14:20)

The heart of Jesus’ promise in John 14 is union. Through the Spirit, Jesus is not just with us—He is in us. This is how the work of Christ becomes personal and present. The Spirit makes the risen Jesus alive in His people.

Notice the language: “you in me, and I in you.” This isn’t abstract theology; it’s intimate relationship. The Spirit unites us to Christ so that His life flows into ours. That means His strength becomes our strength, His joy becomes our joy, His mission becomes our mission.

This is why Jesus said it was better for Him to go away and send the Spirit (John 16:7). If Jesus remained physically present, He would be limited to one place at a time. But through the Spirit, His presence fills every believer, everywhere.

This truth should reshape how we see daily life. Christ is not far off, waiting for us to check in on Sundays. He dwells in us. That means your workplace, your home, your commute, your conversations—all become places where Christ is present through you.

It also means the Christian life is not about trying harder but abiding deeper. The Spirit doesn’t make us independent super-Christians. He makes us dependent children who draw life from Christ. As branches connected to the vine, we bear fruit because His life is in us.

Today, marvel at the miracle of Christ in you through the Spirit. He has not left you. He is closer than your own breath.

Reflection Questions:

  • How does the Spirit make Jesus personally present in your life?
  • Why is it significant that Jesus dwells in us and not just with us?
  • What difference would it make to view every part of your day as a place where Christ is present?
  • How can you cultivate deeper dependence on the Spirit instead of relying on your own strength?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about an ordinary moment in your day-to-day life and imagine how it looks different knowing Christ is present in you by the Spirit.

Prayer Starter:
Thank God that Christ lives in you by the Spirit and ask Him to help you abide in His presence throughout the day.
