Unmatched – Week 4 Day 3
WEEK 4 // DAY 3
THE SPIRIT AS TEACHER
Read John 14:15-27
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
Jesus described the Spirit not only as a Helper but also as a Teacher. He promised the Spirit would teach us all things and remind us of His words. This means the Spirit’s role is not just to comfort us but to shape us with the truth of Jesus.
Think about how teachers work: they explain, they correct, they review, they guide. The Spirit does all of this in our walk with Christ. He illuminates Scripture, helping us understand not just intellectually but spiritually. He convicts us when we stray and points us back to truth. He reminds us of Jesus’ promises when we are prone to forget.
Many of us struggle with forgetfulness—not just of details, but of the gospel itself. We forget we’re loved, we forget God is in control, we forget the cross and the resurrection. The Spirit brings those truths back to mind. He whispers the gospel into our daily lives.
This should encourage us to stay close to the Word. The Spirit doesn’t work in a vacuum—He brings to remembrance what Jesus has said. That means the more we immerse ourselves in Scripture, the more material the Spirit has to bring alive in our hearts.
Today, welcome the Spirit as your Teacher. Let Him remind you of what is true and guide you into deeper obedience to Christ.
Reflection Questions:
- How have you experienced the Spirit teaching or reminding you of Jesus’ words?
- Why is it important that the Spirit’s teaching is always connected to Jesus’ words?
- What truths do you most often forget that you need the Spirit to bring to mind?
- How could you give the Spirit “more material” to work with in your life?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about a specific time when the Spirit reminded you of a Scripture or truth exactly when you needed it.
Ask the Spirit to teach you and bring Jesus’ words to life in your heart today.
