WEEK 4 // DAY 1

ANOTHER HELPER

Read John 14:15-27

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth…” (John 14:16–17)

On the night before His death, Jesus gave His disciples a staggering promise: He would send them “another Helper.” The Greek word here, parakletos, means one who comes alongside—an advocate, a counselor, a comforter. Jesus was preparing His followers for His physical departure, but He wanted them to know they would not be left alone.

The Spirit is not an optional accessory for advanced Christians. He is God’s answer to our deepest need: presence. Notice the words—“to be with you forever.” Jesus knew our tendency to fear abandonment, so He promised a constant companion who would never leave.

The Spirit is also called the “Spirit of truth.” That means He doesn’t just comfort us; He guides us into what is real, steady, and reliable. In a world filled with lies, distractions, and confusion, the Spirit anchors us to God’s truth. He takes the words of Jesus and makes them living and active in our hearts.

This changes everything. Christianity is not about following Jesus from a distance. It’s about Christ living in us through the Spirit. That means you never walk alone into temptation, never suffer alone in trials, and never serve alone in your calling. The Helper is with you—forever.

Reflection Questions:

  • Why do you think Jesus described the Spirit as “another Helper”?
  • How does the Spirit’s presence answer the fear of being left alone?
  • Where in your life do you most need to remember the Spirit of truth is with you today?
  • How would your walk with Christ change if you lived as if you are never without His presence?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about a time when you felt abandoned or uncertain, and how the promise of the Spirit’s presence speaks into that experience.

Prayer Starter:
Thank God for sending the Holy Spirit as your constant Helper and ask Him to make you more aware of His presence today.
