Summer in the Psalms

WEEK 9 // DAY 4

SATISFY US WITH YOUR LOVE

“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.”

Here Moses shifts from confession into worshipful longing. This is not optimism—it’s anchored hope.

God’s love is unfailing, not based on circumstances. Satisfied in the morning means our first thought, our deepest longing, is God’s faithful presence—not achievements. When summer routines fade and fall ramps up, joy can feel elusive.

But there’s very good news. Joy is a discipline that is rooted not in news, but in the nature of God. To choose joy each morning is a spiritual posture: “Even if today stings, You are still good.” It’s not ignoring pain—it’s breathing truth over it. If we fill ourselves with grievances or productivity, joy dries up. Moses says begin with God’s steady love, and then the day will echo joy. The Holy Spirit is comfort, satisfaction, and song. Today is invitation: not to performance joy, but soul-alignment joy. God’s love outlasts every frustration. It endures beyond the outcome.

Reflection Questions:

  • What steals your joy before you’ve had breakfast?
  • How can you cultivate a morning habit anchored in God’s love?
  • What lies about your significance need replacing?
  • How does joy empower you to live with clarity?

Journaling Prompt:

Write a short morning prayer declaring God’s love, choosing joy, and naming something you claim in faith today.

Prayer Starter: Ask God to meet you afresh today. Thank Him for steadfast love. Pray for joy that outlasts your circumstance.
