Summer in the Psalms – Week 5 Day 1
WEEK 5 // DAY 1
MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE
Psalm 100 opens with a burst of invitation:
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!”
It’s not a whisper or a hesitant suggestion—it’s a loud, jubilant, global call. This is not just for Israel or a church choir. All the earth is invited into God’s joy. Worship isn’t a spectator sport; it’s a global response to a glorious God.
Notice, it’s a joyful noise. This isn’t about musical talent. It’s not about whether you can carry a tune. God is not seeking perfect pitch—He’s after a joyful heart. When your heart is full of who God is, joy can’t help but overflow.
Jesus picks up this theme in Luke 19, when people shout praises as He enters Jerusalem. The Pharisees say, “Tell them to be quiet!” But Jesus says, “If they’re silent, the stones will cry out.” (Luke 19:40) That’s worship—joy so irrepressible that creation itself joins in.
Reflection Questions:
- What holds you back from expressing joy in worship?
- How does your view of God shape the way you worship?
- When was the last time you felt joy in God’s presence?
- What would it look like to make a joyful noise in your own life this week?
Journaling Prompt:
Describe what “joyful worship” means to you. What does it look like in a regular week, and how could it grow?
Ask God to restore your joy in Him. Pray that your worship would be genuine, free, and grounded in His goodness.
