Summer in the Psalms – Week 3 Day 5
WEEK 3 // DAY 5
THE LORD ALMIGHTY IS WITH US
Read Psalm 46
“The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Psalm 46 ends as it began—with confident repetition. Twice this line is spoken (verses 7 and 11), like a chorus we are meant to cling to. God is not just present—He is powerful. He is not just a fortress—He is our fortress. And He’s not just “God” in the abstract—He is the God of Jacob, which reminds us of His faithfulness to real, flawed people in history.
To say “The Lord Almighty is with us” is to proclaim the core of the gospel. In Jesus, God took on flesh and dwelt among us. In the Holy Spirit, He dwells within us now. His presence is our hope. His nearness is our strength. His name is our banner.
When you feel surrounded, uncertain, or exhausted, return to this line: The Lord Almighty is with me. Say it until you believe it. Whisper it when the lies get loud. Declare it over your family, your future, and your fears.
Reflection Questions:
- What does it mean for you that God is “with” you today?
- Why do you think the psalm repeats this phrase?
- How has God shown Himself faithful in your life, like He did for Jacob?
- What would change if you lived every day as if the Lord Almighty was by your side?
Journaling Prompt:
Write this phrase: “The Lord Almighty is with me.” Reflect on how that truth can shape your thoughts and actions today.
Thank God for being your fortress. Praise Him for His presence and power, and ask for fresh confidence in His nearness.
