Love Unending – Week 6 Day 5

WEEK 6 // DAY 5
COMPASSION STRONGER THAN REBELLION
Read Hosea 11:1-11
Verses 8 & 9 give us one of the most powerful glimpses of God’s heart in all of Scripture.
God wrestles—not because He is uncertain, but because His compassion is so deep. His people deserve judgment. Their rebellion is real. But His love rises up.
“How can I give you up?”
God’s love is not fragile. It does not disappear when you fail. It is deeper than His anger and stronger than your rebellion.
This does not mean sin is ignored. It means sin is not the final word.
Jesus is where this tension is resolved. At the cross, God does not choose between justice and mercy—He fulfills both. Sin is taken seriously. The cost of our sin is real. But instead of giving you what your rebellion deserves, Jesus absorbs that cost Himself. Through Jesus, the Father’s heart is fully revealed.
You are not beyond hope. You are not too far gone. You have not exhausted His patience.
If you feel distant from God, His heart is not turned away from you—it is turned toward you. Calling you. Inviting you. Drawing you back into relationship. If you feel like you’ve gone too far, His compassion is still greater. The invitation remains open.
This compassion also reshapes how we see others. The same compassion God has shown us becomes the compassion we extend to others.
God’s love does not give up—and neither should we.
