WEEK 5 // DAY 3

DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

Read Hosea 4:1-6

This verse can be misunderstood if we read it through a modern lens. The “knowledge” Hosea describes is not merely intellectual understanding. It is relational knowing—the kind of knowledge that grows through walking closely with God.

Israel knew about God. They knew their history and traditions. They could recite the stories of the Exodus and the covenant. Yet their lives showed that they no longer knew Him personally. The relationship had grown distant.

This is a sobering reminder that information about God is not the same as intimacy with Him. You can know Scripture, theology, and church traditions and still live at a distance from God. The Pharisees in Jesus’ time demonstrated this clearly. They possessed enormous knowledge of Scripture, yet they struggled to recognize the very Messiah standing before them.

Jesus came so that people could truly know God. In John’s Gospel, He says that eternal life is knowing the Father and the Son He has sent. Christianity is not primarily a system of beliefs—it is a restored relationship with the living God.

When you walk with Jesus daily, knowledge becomes relational. Scripture becomes a conversation rather than simply information. Prayer becomes communion rather than duty. Faith moves from theory into lived experience.

This kind of knowing transforms your life from the inside out. It shapes how you think, how you respond, and how you navigate the challenges of everyday life.

God’s desire has never been simply that His people know about Him. He desires that you know Him personally—His heart, His presence, His voice.

And through Jesus, that relationship is fully available to you.
