WEEK 6 // DAY 5

I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS

Read Matthew 28:16-20

Jesus ends His commission with a promise, not a command. After calling His disciples to go, teach, and make disciples, He anchors everything in presence: I am with you always. Mission would be unbearable without this promise. With it, mission becomes possible—and even hopeful.

This assurance reveals something essential about Jesus’ heart. He does not send His followers away from Himself. He sends them with Himself. The work of mission is sustained not by courage alone, but by companionship. Wherever you go, Jesus goes with you.

This matters because living sent can feel intimidating. You may worry about saying the wrong thing, missing an opportunity, or feeling inadequate. Jesus anticipates those fears. He does not promise success or ease. He promises presence. And presence is enough.

The promise “to the very end of the age” means Jesus’ nearness is not temporary. It does not fade when you fail or falter. He remains with you in obedience and in weakness, in confidence and in doubt. Mission unfolds in the context of grace.

In daily life, this promise reshapes how you approach ordinary interactions. You are not trying to bring Jesus into places where He is absent—He is already there. You are invited to notice His presence and join Him in what He is doing.

This also reframes failure. When conversations go poorly or opportunities feel missed, Jesus has not left. Mission is not fragile. God’s work does not depend on flawless execution. Faithfulness is enough when Jesus is present.

The final invitation of the series brings everything together. You followed. You came and saw. You came to Jesus for rest. You surrendered. You remained. And now you are sent—but never alone. The same Jesus who invited you into relationship walks with you into the world.

Reflection Questions:

  • What promise does Jesus give at the end of the Great Commission?
  • Why is His presence more important than confidence or skill?
  • Where do you most need to trust that Jesus is with you?
  • How does this promise change how you view mission?

Journaling Prompt:

Take time to reflect on Jesus’ promise of presence. Write about how knowing He is with you shapes your willingness to live sent.

Prayer Starter:
Jesus, thank You for staying with me. Give me courage to go, trusting Your presence every step of the way.
