WEEK 5 // DAY 5

REMAINING IN LOVE

Read John 15:1-11

Jesus brings the invitation to abide to its deepest foundation: love. He does not ground remaining in discipline, consistency, or effort, but in relationship. The love the Father has for the Son—the eternal, secure, unshakable love within the Trinity—is the same love Jesus extends to you.

This truth reshapes how you understand abiding. You do not remain in Jesus to earn His love. You remain because His love is already yours. Abiding is not a strategy for approval; it is a response to belonging. When you forget this, striving returns. When you remember it, peace follows.

Jesus connects remaining in His love with obedience, not as a condition but as a result. Obedience grows naturally when love is secure. Fear-driven obedience exhausts; love-rooted obedience brings joy. Jesus’ commands are not burdensome because they flow from relationship, not pressure.

In daily life, forgetting that you are loved often leads to spiritual fatigue. You may try to prove your worth to God or others. Jesus invites you back to a simpler truth: you are already loved, already held, already secure in Him. Remaining means returning to that truth again and again.

This love also becomes the source of joy. Jesus says He wants His joy to be in you—not temporary happiness, but deep, steady joy rooted in relationship with Him. Abiding in love reshapes how you live, how you fail, and how you hope.

Jesus invites you to stay—not because He is fragile, but because you are. Remaining in His love anchors you in grace and sustains you through every season.

Reflection Questions:

  • How does Jesus describe the love He has for you?
  • Why is love central to remaining in Him?
  • Where do you drift into striving instead of resting in love?
  • How might remembering Jesus’ love reshape your obedience?

Journaling Prompt:

Take time to reflect on Jesus’ love for you. Write about how remaining in that love changes how you view yourself and God.

Prayer Starter:
Jesus, thank You for loving me fully. Help me remain rooted in Your love and live from that truth.
