WEEK 3 // DAY 2

LEARNING THE WAY OF REST

Read Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus describes Himself in a way that feels deeply personal: gentle and humble in heart. This is the character of the One inviting you to rest. He is not harsh, demanding, or impatient. He is gentle with those who come to Him exhausted.

The invitation to rest includes an invitation to learn. Rest is not passive—it is formative. Jesus teaches you a new way of living, one shaped by trust rather than striving. His yoke fits differently than the ones you’ve been carrying.

Many of us are yoked to expectations—our own or others’. We measure ourselves by productivity, performance, or approval. Those yokes are heavy because they were never meant to be carried alone. Jesus offers a yoke that is light because He carries the weight with you.

Learning from Jesus means allowing Him to shape your rhythms, priorities, and pace. Rest grows as you align your life with His gentleness rather than resisting it. This kind of rest reaches deeper than sleep—it restores the soul.

In daily life, this may mean slowing down, setting boundaries, or releasing the need to prove yourself. Jesus does not rush you. He invites you to walk with Him at a pace shaped by grace.

Reflection Questions:

  • How does Jesus describe His own heart?
  • What does it mean to “learn” from Jesus?
  • What heavy yokes might you be carrying right now?
  • How could Jesus’ gentleness reshape your daily rhythms?

Journaling Prompt:

Reflect on how you tend to measure your worth. Write about how Jesus’ gentleness invites you into a different way of living.

Prayer Starter:
Jesus, thank You for Your gentle heart. Teach me to walk with You in a way that brings true rest.
