Invited By Jesus – Week 2 Day 4

WEEK 2 // DAY 4
COME HUNGRY
Read Isaiah 55:1-3, John 1:35-50
God’s invitation in Isaiah is strikingly generous. He calls the thirsty, the hungry, and the weary—not the self-sufficient. The invitation assumes need. To come to God is not to arrive impressive, but empty.
This passage reveals God’s heart toward seekers. He does not shame need; He responds to it. He invites people to receive freely what they cannot earn. Faith begins not with strength, but with hunger.
Jesus fulfills this invitation. When He says, “Come and see,” He invites people to discover that God meets real needs with real grace. You do not come to Jesus because you are complete—you come because you are not.
In daily life, this challenges the impulse to clean yourself up before approaching God. Spiritual hunger is not failure—it is an invitation. God promises satisfaction to those who listen and come near.
To come hungry is to trust that God is good enough to meet you where you are. Jesus invites you to bring your longing, your emptiness, and your questions—and to trust that He will provide what truly sustains.
Reflection Questions:
- Who is invited in Isaiah’s words, and why does that matter?
- How does hunger function as a doorway to faith?
- Where do you feel spiritually thirsty right now?
- What might it look like to come to Jesus honestly and expectantly?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about areas of hunger or longing in your life. Invite God to meet you there without pretending to be self-sufficient.
God, thank You for welcoming my hunger. Help me come to You honestly and receive Your life-giving grace.
