WEEK 2 // DAY 3

TASTE AND SEE

Read Psalm 34: 8, John 1:35-50

Psalm 34 does not invite you to analyze God—it invites you to experience Him. “Taste and see.” These words assume participation, not distance. You cannot taste from afar. You must draw near.

This psalm echoes the invitation Jesus gives in the Gospels. Faith is not merely intellectual agreement; it is lived encounter. God invites you to experience His goodness personally, not secondhand through others’ stories alone.

So often, we wait for certainty before engagement. But Scripture reverses the order. Experience leads to understanding. Trust grows through proximity. You discover God’s faithfulness not by observing from the sidelines, but by stepping into relationship with Him.

This is especially important when faith feels abstract or dry. God does not ask you to manufacture belief. He invites you to try—to take a step, to taste, to see. Refuge is found not in self-sufficiency, but in trusting God enough to come close.

In daily life, tasting and seeing looks like practicing faith even when emotions lag behind. It may mean prayer when you feel unsure, Scripture when you feel distracted, or community when you feel hesitant. These practices are not tests of faith—they are invitations into experience.

Jesus embodies this invitation. He does not merely tell you about God’s goodness; He reveals it through His presence. To come and see Jesus is to encounter the goodness of God made visible.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does the phrase “taste and see” imply about faith?
  • How does experience play a role in spiritual growth?
  • Where might you be observing faith instead of engaging it?
  • What step could help you experience God’s goodness more personally?

Journaling Prompt:

Reflect on a time when you experienced God’s goodness firsthand. Write about what helped you notice His presence.

Prayer Starter:
God, thank You for inviting me to experience Your goodness. Help me draw near and trust You as my refuge.
