Unmatched – Week 1 Day 3
WEEK 1 // DAY 3
FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH
Read John 1:1-18
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John describes Jesus as “full of grace and truth.” Grace and truth often seem to be opposing forces in our world: grace can seem soft and forgiving, while truth can feel hard and demanding. But Jesus perfectly combines both. He offers undeserved kindness and mercy, yet never compromises on what is true or right.
This balance is unique and unmatched. Jesus calls sin what it is, yet He doesn’t condemn without hope. He offers forgiveness and calls us to repentance. He invites us into relationship through grace, but that grace transforms us by truth. He shows us the way to live rightly because He embodies God’s holiness and love.
For His followers, this means learning to live in that balance—speaking truth with kindness, loving without ignoring sin, and extending grace without condoning wrongdoing. Jesus models a way of life that is both compassionate and courageous.
Take time today to reflect on how you can show both grace and truth in your relationships, work, and church community, following the unmatched example of Jesus.
Reflection Questions:
- Where have you experienced Jesus’ grace in your own life?
- When has His truth confronted you in a way that brought growth?
- Do you tend to lean more toward grace or truth in your relationships?
- How can you embody both grace and truth this week as you follow Jesus’ example?
Journaling Prompt:
Let your writing today be a space where you celebrate Jesus’ grace in your life and acknowledge His truth at work in you. Invite Him to shape you into someone who reflects both with courage and compassion.
Ask Jesus to fill your heart with both grace and truth so you can love others as He does.
