Summer in the Psalms – Week 9 Day 1
WEEK 9 // DAY 1
GOD WILL BE OUR ETERNAL HOME
Psalm 90 opens with two lines that feel like a warm embrace and firm foundation rolled into one: “Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
In fewer than twenty words, Moses steps out not with anxiety or complaint but with confidence in God’s eternal identity. He is not the answer to a problem—He is our home. When everything else changes, shifts, or falls away, there is One who remains wholly unchanged. God existed before creation, before time, and He will continue to exist long after the timelines we cling to fade. Moses lived in literal wilderness—yet he dared to call God a dwelling place, a home.
That tells us something profound: home is less about location and more about relationship. Home is not a building; it’s God’s faithful presence. This truth takes root in the heart when life is changing. Maybe your “school zone” is winding down. Maybe kids are heading off to college. Maybe fall routines are closing in—and with them, feelings of rest ending. But even in transitions, God remains. When friends drift across geographies, God is still your constant. When you wake at 2 a.m. in worry, God is still your shelter. When success fades, He remains. He is not only ancient; He’s personal—our abiding place.
So when you begin this week, and each morning beyond, anchor yourself with this truth: you are always welcome in God’s presence. The same One who shepherded Moses is with you. Your story intersects with eternity—and eternal love is your refuge.
Reflection Questions:
- When have you felt unsettled by change—and yet God’s presence remained steady?
- What would it look like to start your day thinking, “God is my dwelling place”?
- How does the eternal nature of God bring peace amid uncertainty?
- When are you tempted to anchor in things that won’t last?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about a transition you’ve walked through—maybe a move, new school year, or job change—and how you sensed or experienced God’s presence as your home.
Prayer Starter: Thank God for being your unchanging, eternal dwelling place. Invite Him to plant you deeply in His presence today.
