Summer in the Psalms – Week 7 Day 3
WEEK 7 // DAY 3
THE GOD WHO RESCUES IN LOVE
“To him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt… and brought Israel out from among them… with a strong hand and an outstretched arm…” – Psalm 136:10–12
Israel’s story is shaped by rescue. God delivered them from Egypt with a mighty hand—and Psalm 136 remembers every detail. But every moment of deliverance is not about divine wrath as much as divine mercy. God’s love compels Him to rescue His people.
The refrain still rings: “His steadfast love endures forever.”
We all have our “Egypts”—places of bondage, fear, and spiritual oppression. And like Israel, we needed someone to step in. Jesus came as our Rescuer, our Deliverer—not just to free us from earthly troubles, but to liberate us from the chains of sin and death.
This psalm reminds us: God doesn’t just love in theory. He loves in action. He shows up. He steps in. He delivers.
Reflection Questions:
- What has God delivered you from in your life?
- Where are you currently longing for rescue?
- How does Jesus fulfill the role of Rescuer in your own story?
- How does this change how you pray for deliverance?
Journaling Prompt:
Write about a time when God pulled you out of a difficult situation or dark season. How was His love evident?
Thank God for His deliverance in your life—past and present. Ask Him to increase your faith as you trust Him to rescue again.
