Summer in the Psalms – Week 7 Day 2
WEEK 7 // DAY 2
THE GOD WHO CREATED IN LOVE
“To him who by understanding made the heavens… to him who spread out the earth above the waters… to him who made the great lights…” – Psalm 136:5–7
God’s creation is not just an act of power—it’s an act of love.
Too often, we think of creation as a technical miracle: light, stars, oceans, ecosystems. But Psalm 136 frames it differently. Each creative act is followed by this truth: “His steadfast love endures forever.” God didn’t just make the world because He could. He made it because He wanted to share His beauty and love with His creatures.
Every sunrise whispers His love endures. Every blade of grass, every star, every crashing wave—they’re not just elements of science, they’re symbols of divine affection.
In John 1:1–3, we read that Jesus was with God in the beginning and that all things were made through Him. That means the hands that stretched the sky are the same hands that stretched out on the cross. Creation and redemption come from the same heart: love.
Reflection Questions:
- How does creation reflect God’s love to you?
- What part of nature most reminds you of God’s presence or creativity?
- How does thinking of creation as an act of love shift your perspective?
- How does Jesus, as Creator and Redeemer, reflect the heart of Psalm 136?
Journaling Prompt:
Spend a few minutes outside and reflect on how creation points to the love of God. Then write about what you observed.
Praise God for His creativity and love shown in creation. Ask Him to help you see His love in both beauty and design today.
