Summer in the Psalms

WEEK 6 // DAY 4

HE WILL KEEP YOU FROM ALL EVIL

“The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.” – Psalm 121:7

This doesn’t mean believers won’t face hard things. It means no evil can ultimately separate you from the life God gives. He guards the deepest part of who you are—your soul, your eternal life, your communion with Him.

Romans 8 puts it this way: “Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:39) Evil may touch your story, but it will never own your identity. You are kept.

This verse also speaks to God’s authority. He doesn’t merely respond to evil—He reigns over it. We don’t always see how this plays out, but we trust that He is working all things for good for those who love Him.

Jesus showed this most clearly at the cross. Evil struck—and yet, resurrection triumphed. He was not kept from pain, but He was kept through it and exalted above it. And in Him, so are we.

Reflection Questions:

  • How do you reconcile this verse with the presence of suffering in your life?
  • What does it mean that God “keeps your life” even in trials?
  • Where have you seen God bring good from hardship?
  • How does the cross shape your understanding of this promise?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about an area of pain or struggle. Then reflect on how God might be keeping you in the midst of it.

Prayer Starter:
Thank God that He holds your life securely. Pray that even when you don’t understand, you would trust His protection over your soul.
